March Comes in Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

Woman cleaning the kitchen

Cold and blustery, then warm and breezy. Somewhere in between, whether you’re nesting or simply looking to get rid of the last bit of winter germs, spring cleaning will be on the agenda. Windows, baseboards, and ceiling fans – lots of household cleaners being used!

Are you still using traditional cleaning products with harsh warning labels? Flammable. Toxic. Poisonous. Children and pets are at the greatest risk.

What about cleaning products with labels that look gentle, but contain harmful scents? You’ll find “fragrance” on the label of many products. As pleasant as fragrance sounds, it is an eye, skin or respiratory irritant and it can cause asthmatic or allergic reactions.

Some cleaning products don’t even have all their ingredients on the label, asking you to call an 800 number instead. Who calls for ingredients!?

How can you determine if the products you’re using are harmful to your health?

Check for warning labels. Manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients, but they are required to include warning labels.

Check for a full list of ingredients. As noted in BusinessEthics, com, according to Sloan Barnett, author of Green Goes with Everything, “The government only requires companies to list ‘chemicals of known concern’ on their labels. The key word here is ‘known’,” she says. “The fact is that the government has no idea whether most of the chemicals used in everyday cleaning products are safe because it doesn’t test them, and it doesn’t require manufacturers to test them either.”

Check your habits. Do you turn on an exhaust fan? Do you hold your breath? Are you careful not to touch your clothing? You may not have thought about it, but those are all signs that, instinctively, you sense your cleaners are not good for you or your family.

And, last but not least,

Check your medicine cabinet. Do you find yourself taking headache medicine after cleaning? There are chemical ingredients in traditional cleaning products with links to harmful health effects, including something as simple as a headache or as serious as a chronic or life-threatening illness.

Now that you know what to look for in avoiding harmful products, here’s a sample of what to you’ll find in PUREhaven ESSENTIALS line of home cleaning products:

water (purified), organic grape alcohol, enzymes (mannase, lipase, cellulose, protease), vegetable glycerin (kosher, non GMO), coco glucoside, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), citrus limonum (organic lemon) peel oil, rosemarinus officinalis (organic rosemary) oil, citric acid

That’s the ingredient list for PUREhaven’s super-hero cleaner, Master Blaster. It’s here to save the day, naturally. Customers tell us they love it because it replaces a whole host of products, from carpet cleaners to laundry presoak to fabric and air fresheners.

We love it because not only are there not any harmful ingredients, the organic lemon peel oil provides the benefits of calming (who doesn’t need that while they’re cleaning?) and anti-inflammatory and anti-viral benefits. It is known for its anti-bacterial properties. Organic rosemary essential oil has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties.

Bring on the spring cleaning! You’re now armed with the right information to make sure your home not only looks clean, it is clean of toxic fumes and chemicals.
